What is happening: Typhoon Yutu is expected to hit the US Territory of Guam and the other Mariana Islands by Thursday.
Wednesday: At 2am on Wednesday the center of the storm was 450 miles away in a south-easterly direction. Wind speeds were up to 105mph. It is current classified as a category 2 Atlantic hurricane.
Thursday: By Thursday, the typhoon is expected to hit Guam. By this point it will likely be a category 3 hurricane with wind speeds of 111-129mph. The direct strike of the typhoon will hit the island of Saipan.
Preparations: People on all Mariana Islands should be preparing. There may be moderate damage to weak structures and loose fixtures will be blown away. Emergency kits and plans should be reviewed. Road signs are being taken down so drivers must be careful.
