What is happening: JD.com have launched a new 737 freighter service. The company have teamed up with HNA Group.
The service: It operates six times a week, flying between Tianjin and Guangzhou. They are using Tianjin Air Cargo for the flights. The carrier only has three aircraft, but hopes to expand rapidly to 50-100 in the space of just a few years. This moves away from JD’s usual method of transporting cargo in the belly of passenger flights.
Other offers: JD.com will also use the 737 to support other offerings, such as deliveries to China. They are considering a parcel delivery service in the image of FedEx for Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
