What is happening: RichRelevance have released their Digital Grocery Survey 2018 Holiday Edition, revealing that holiday season grocery orders may more than double this year. 44% of Americans asked said they would order online this year, up from 20% last year.
Why is this happening: 75% say they order online to save time. However, 50% of those against ordering online say they don’t trust others to pick out the best choices, and 37% don’t want to spend extra money.
Where is this happening: 57% of those asked will shop at Amazon. Walmart and Target were at 48%. Safeway and Kroger followed with 30%.
Purchases: 56% said they will order side dishes online, 51% will order canned items, beverages 44%, turkey 33%, and desserts 31%.
