What is happening: The partial US government shutdown is beginning to affect freight terminals.
Backups: There have not yet been widespread backups for airline or shipment operations as customs/security agents remain working. However, staffing levels surrounding the flow of goods are being slimmed.
Airlines: Customs and Border Protection agents at the TSA are currently working without pay. Some airline operations are also feeling the force of the shutdown as staffing numbers are slimmed down.
Shipments: Paperwork for international shipments is proving tricky too, although shipments are still moving.
FAA: The Federal Aviation Administration is ordering those with jobs critical to safety back to work.
